Loving, Learning, Living

Senior Pastor/Preaching and Teaching

Dwayne was born in 1957 and was raised by their grandparents in Northeastern Georgia. After graduation from high school, Dwayne enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. and served four years. During his tour of duty at Camp Lejeune NC, he met and married Jeanne who not only won his heart but also won him to faith in Jesus Christ. Following his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, the couple moved to Sylva, NC and entered Western Carolina University where they both completed undergraduate degrees.

Following graduation from WCU Dwayne was accepted into Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. During their time in Seminary, Dwayne served as Associate Pastor of Riverview Baptist Church in Fort Worth Texas responsible for youth and evangelism ministry. Both he and Jeanne also served as Summer Missionaries at Possum Kingdom Lake in charge of children’s ministries and personal evangelism.

After earning his Master of Divinity degree in 1988 Dwayne received a call by the mission on Topsail Island which would become North Topsail Shores Baptist Church. The Lord in His grace and love has blessed Dwayne and Jeanne with the opportunity to see God’s awesome power in bringing people to Himself and growing His Church. God has also blessed Dwayne and Jeanne with two wonderful children; Joel and Jeanne Marie, an awesome daughter-in-law; Stephanie and three fantastic grandchildren: Jude, Charlotte, Ruthelle, and Jonathan.
